Omg the next few days are horrible -.- lectures all the way. Helicopter and structural design. Haiz… lectures are boring, in Chinese and it means LULLABY!! Cool rite… half the class were sleeping and only 4 ppl were trying to listen. And im very sure, those 4 minds are wondering off already. Haha! Its like so pai sei ar, go there learn from lectures and in the end turn out to be like that, sleeping lesson. I feel so embarrassed. But im proud to say that I didn’t sleep!! Yes!

Its lunchtime and we went to the canteen to have our lunch. Queues were extremely long, and there is no seat. We observed how the Chinese students actually find seats and its rather cool. The canteen tables were actually tables for 4 ppl. But the Chinese actually just buy food first and find seats. They just find any empty seats and just sit down, without asking “excuse me is there anyone sitting here?” and even if those aren’t there friends. We quickly get our food and we assure, that this shall be our first and final meal in the canteen. Its gonna be restaurants all the way. Btw their payment is like kopitiam one, tap card one. Then lecture again until 5, 3 hrs our horrible lecture, mental torture-.-

At night we went to a shopping mall called xiu shui jie, its also none as imitation street. Goods can be bargained and HAHA the bargaining is super funny. My friend bought a ipod for like 100 yuan which is 20 sing? HAHA. And another bought a Ralph Laurence polo shirt for like 80 yuan ( 16 sing)? HAHA super funny! However all the prices aren’t so cheap initially, its actually after bargains. The polo shirt were actually initially 300 yuan but pressed till 80 yuan -.- how fake is it man HAHA. The tour guide actually told us that the shirt is probably worth only 50 yuan. We were like super stunted?! 50 yuan stuffs sold at 300 yuan. We had subway there, price are abt the same as s’pore, myfirst time trying and finishing the foot long sandwich.

Friday( day5) similarly began with a horribly boring lecture. Structural analysis and we did a topic on wing structure. Also 3 freaking hrs long, all the way one with a 10 mins break. Listen until sleep ar. This lesson 80% of the class on the table snoring away somemore. The lecturer even said its ok, this one abit too abstract. HAHA funny! Now I really know how a uni lecture is. U copy and copy until u die. No notes given, its either u copy and if u get it, u’re lucky, if not means u die! That will mean gg to library to source out materials already. Omg die la~~ my lecturer said, the one from sp who went with us, said if sp lecture like that, everyone comfirm fail. He even bought a book from the local bookstore abt aircraft structure. He said the lecturer covered EVERYTHING on wing structure in just 3 hrs! FREAK~~ except for calculations I guess. Hahaha!! Crazy

Then lunched at the café, not canteen anymore and its relatively cheap, no complains abt lunch for now. Then lecture again from 2 – 5 30pm, continuation of the landing gear system from wed’s lecture. I think it’s probably the best lecture since the first lecture man. We learn new things and understand easily. Lecturer was good! He makes things very easily and slowly explains everything . again, another freak! Entire landing gear system covered in a total of 6 hr lecture. Omg la~ siao man, I think I will cry in uni ar.

Then its back to hotel and we hunt for food again and its resting time. Tomolo GREAT WALL! And its gonna be freezing cold, hope I can survive, pray~~ toodles :D

JIARONG IS COLD!

HARLO!!! I know I know… it’s been ages since my last entry hahaa!!! Sorry guys… im just being plain lazy :D school had been boring… no band practices for YO Phil winds and SP, yup life is such a bore without playing in any ensemble… its like wat a pity!! YO is playing la forza~ but I cant play cuz… im in CHINA!!!

Yup im now in china haha Beijing in fact. And im COLD! Its like -4 to 7 degrees? Freezing cold… nice place, just that the air and water aren’t so good. Talk abt quality of the Chinese nationals there, I think they are not as decent as those in S’pore. They spit as and when they like, even in arcade entrances -.- horrible haha…

Alright lets talk abt first day. I think the first day is the most terrible part of the trip.. the flight. We took a pathetic Xiamen Airlines, which is rather okay. Just that, it’s a freaking boring flight. All of us were separated and we don’t get to sit with our friends. There is no entertainment system except for a small monitor above our head that is shared for by 4 ppl? And they are showing the same show for like donno how many times. Our flight was at 9 am from T1, and they started showing Ip Man. The flight is a transfer flight so we have to fly to Xiamen where we then transfer to Tianjin and coach up to Beijing. After the horrible first 3 hrs of the flight, we start to transfer and then board the plane again 1 hr later. Similarly they show Ip Man, and that’s the FORTH time I watched it.

Its my first time sitting so close to the engine though. Quite interesting where u hear the engine roar when its on the runway before takeoff. When its switched to full thrust u can actually see huge streams of air flowing into the engine… COOL~~ haha the flight was HOT too! And the food is~~~ erm… I donno wat to say… not bad, but not good either.

After another terrible 2 hr torturous flight, we finally reach Tianjin at abt 4pm and that’s our first experience of the COLD weather. And its no joke, crazily COLD!! When u talk u can see the smoke smoke thing one! So cool… just like TV. I wore like 3 layers of shirts, 1 thermal wear 1 t shirt and 1 huge windbreaker in order to keep warm. No choice its really very cold. After reaching Tianjin airport we coach to a local restaurant for our first ever dinner/ meal in china. The food was not bad, not like wat my mum says all vege, but instead lots of meat! And really Aero guys are carnivourous. We had like 3 bowls of rice each and the meat dishes swiped to the brim HAHA.

After the meal we went out to continue our bus ride to our hotel. Before boarding we saw a very INTERSTING vending machine. Can u guess wat they sell inside? Its CONDOMS! AND SEX TOYS omg la~~ and its pretty cheap know? 1 pack like 5 Yuan which is like abt a sing dollar? Even in s’pore durex are like 5 bucks? Aiyo~~ aiya but maybe the quality not so good. Bus ride was cool, we get to sight see lots of cool buildings and of cuz the BIRD NEST! Beautiful stadium I must say, especially with all the lightings against the dark night sky. Maybe s’pore should build one abalone for our youth Olympics :D upon reaching we got our key and chino to the hotel for a rest…

Day 2 starts with a morning call at 7 30am which is like freaking early!? Alright la, at least the breakfast was nice. We had our quick breakfast and eventually reach the uni at abt 9 30am. The uni is Beihang University where they specializes in Aeronautical and Astronautical sciences. We walked to the International School for a simple opening ceremony where we get to meet the Dean and then, wishes us a pleasant stay. HAHA after that we walked to the ‘food court’ where all the students have their lunch. The journey was horribly cold, but fun! We were like camwhore everywhere. Lunch was sumptuous except for those liang cai ( cold dishes). Those dishes were made specially to be served cold, and of cuz not to our tastings. In fact none of us really touched them haha. As usual after the carnivorous lunch we had a short tour around the campus to familiarize with the buildings and location, camwhoring along the way.

Finally we left to visit the China Astronomical academy and its basically a small museum. The person explained to us from start of the man made satellite the Chinese sends out to the latest rocket the shot last year 2008. we even get to take pictures with the returned cabin of the first rocket the Chinese sent to space! The ACTUAL cabin that came back chao da~.

And its SHOPPING! We went to Wang Fu Jing, which is actually beijing’s orchard road. It’s a very wide street but not very long anyway. There are a few poor mothers carrying their toddler child begging for money. Damn poor thing, but we didn’t give them any money. Its not being mean or wat, cuz if give them more will come and find us. So better be safe then sorry :D we saw 2 ‘Paragons’ and its really freaking EX! Some leather shops sold their leather jackets for like 16K Yuan!!! (3k sing) CRAZY RITE!!

After having some sightseeing we decided to hunt for food! And we went to a restaurant called viva curry to have our dinner. Not bad, and we watched tom and jerry while eating. Haha! The lamer the show the funnier it is HAHA. After the dinner we went to a small street where the sell small quick bites, its called Xiao chi jie. Several stalls sell ‘satays’ and its really very nice la. But if u see carefully, they sell other interesting satays too! Starfish, SCORPIONS, SEAHORSES, COCKCROACHES, LIZARDS!!!!!! ARGH!!!!! DISGUSTING~~~ and my friend actually tried the scorpions, he said it taste like ikan bilis.omg la scorpions!!! Siao.. after the short tour around that orchard road we went back to the 2 star hotel and have our beauty sleep. I must say the 2 star hotel is really good. Good food and good quality hotel. Better than expected.

Day 3 morning is much similar to day 2’s morning. Had breakfast and then go to beihang. We had lots of labs visits there and we mechanical students are sooooo sian. Cuz all the equipments they showed us a basically electrical stuffs, in which some of us are mechanical students. They showed some oscilloscope, some modulation and demodulation of waveforms, digital signal processing where we can input voice or pictures to process. Also got one more presentation on the air traffic managements where they show us generally how the Chinese do their air traffic controls and surveillance. Beihang is really pro in all these, they actually produce several such products and sold them in the market. Several airline companies actually employ such equipments in their control tower. And again its lunch and we proceed to our very first lecture at 2pm

The lecture is one aircraft components and structural design, we did one of the topic on landing gears. It’s a great lecture I must say. Though everything is in Chinese we at least learn a lot more then those we had in ACC. Example the different type of landing gear configuration, the stability of the different type of landing gears and many different types of landing gears. It’s a 2.5 hr lecture with a 10 mins break in between and it’s a all chino lecture! We take down notes like mad and drew like mad. Such sights are very rare in SP, cuz SP damn slack la! A 2 hr lecture can start late 15 mins and end early half an hr. so in the end become 1 hr 15 mins lecture -.- unlike beihang the lecture is all chino and ur ears must be up all the way. Nice lecture, accept for several Chinese terminology we don’t understand and writing Chinese words. Too bad aeronautical engineering isn’t conducted in English if not I might consider coming here to further my studies. HAHA.

After the lecture we bused back to the hotel and hunt for dinner and finally have a rest. Phew… 2 days of activity day till night is seriously killing me man. After all its still fun, not so bad, yet HAHA.

That’s it for the first 3 days, hopefully subsequent days are good and relaxing :D toodles~

MD Concert

well i know my update is abit slow ar... MD was like 17 dec and its 22 dec today haha. Finally MD is over, and that means no more sp band loooo. YAY! ok i know im being mean, but i really wanna have this long break. SP band is a really great band to be part of. I met so many friends, funny ones and weird ones. I will miss Sp band though, i think? After completing CATIA just now in school, i even automatically went to peep and the bandroom. Aiyo~~ means i still have feelings for it la. Anyway, hopefully this break would be a fruitful one, maybe can consider coming back after MD.

MD is over, and that means no more Leonard Tan! argh!!! i will die man. Will definitely miss him like nuts. He is probably the greatest conductor one could ever have. All his lame jokes ar... really damn lame ar... love all his dance steps on the podium and all his music stories! damn fascinating. After getting to know him, i feel that my music hobby has really taken a huge step forward le. Especially in Philwinds where we play crazy nut pieces? Music for Prague, 1812 Overture etc. Now im like more open, more exposed and get to know more repertoire in the realm of band music.

Third Symphony is a really great piece. Sp finally delivered it to the audience after months of pain and hardwork. i think thats one point all SPSBians should be proud of. Like what laoban says, not much tertiary institution band actually is able to perform it. good job guys. MD is over means MENDELSSOHN is OVER TOO! Wah... actually ar, the only piece im worried of is mendelssohn rather than the third symphony. and its finally over!

First time playing solo, or rather duet, is really a great great experience man. I remembered when i was sec 4 and i played the solo for Highlights from Chess and Disco Party 3, like nth eh? like no feeling? donno, its like solo ar? orh solo lor... -.- i think for me ar... the older i get the more nervous i will be. Even yiwei says "u will nervous one meh? cant tell" argh! crap! HAHA... Just wait till when play and 800 pairs of eyes are staring at u... ARGH!!!! Anyway experience not only with the solo playing, but the MEMORIZING too! so irritating la~~ i think i can remember math and physics formula easier eh. tsk tsk... so freaky! concert day rehearsel still have wrong notes and slips, really very scared!

But after everything really relieved, went around blog hopping. k i know very pervertic HAHA but i don care. Many ppl said the duet was GREAT! AWESOME! I HOPE I CAN BE LIKE THEM! HAHAH wah seh... feel like a star man! then got SPSBians wanna take pic with us, HAHA. okok indulge abit la... too high le. somemore got those ppl sitting in the first few rows felt very lousy after seeing us play. HAHA they show the " wah...stunted*" look. HAHA so funny.

aiya really very pro meh? maybe they haven seen pro-er ppl yet. we are like just, amteur? ppl say us pro makes me feel even more stress. pro? really don deserved to be called pro, look at ppl like ivan and chua, aiyo they are like way far from me man. maybe i will need another 10 20 years to catch up HAHA. nvm, im not a music student anyway, i'll take my time to learn. slow and steady :D

I WANNA GO BERLIN!!!!!

omg its been ages i've blogged, and i literally meant ages haha. lazy la~ cant be blamed. there has been many projects over and im really really glad... especially the limyau one. HAHA lets see... since i last blogged, these are finally over:
1) YO concert
2) MST!
3) Philwinds concert
4) YO concert under limyau
5) My beloved bday :D:D:D

first and for most.. YO concert haha! quite alright.. but i think ivan must have hated me like nuts... he must have think " stupid jiarong! donno wat the hell is he playing man, in concert still play wrong stuffs... wat kinda sound is he producing man" aiyo die la... really ar my sound during the concert was disgusting.. thin and bright.. tsk tsk tsk haiz... and its the first time i heard the organ in use... wah~~~ so cool man... the sound so big and vibrant... haha!

MST!... MST!!!! argh come to think of it quite angry ar... but funny also haha... first test is APP... and i made one stupid mistake... forget find V3 for diesel cycle.. aiyo~~~ so stupid la... LAV also, didn't put -ve sign for ans... aiyo~~ the most pathetic one is still AEIS HAHA... that one hopeless la so i don care anyway.. sometimes its so frustrating and annoying that u actually get marks deducted for carelessness. meaning u get penalise by something that u actually know how to do... argh! so irritating~~~~~~~~~~~HAHAHAHA

and philwinds concert... wow cool man... love music for prague.. HAHA first time i actually like modern work. i used to think that modern works are for brainless ppl, because modern work has no meaning! thats when i was younger, much more naive. seriously la... modern work like got no melody one lor.. listen le also blur.. "huh? wat the hell is that?" but music for prague is damn powerful piece lor.. really, every band should play, but its freaking difficult la...not straight forward at all.

after playing in philwinds and YO, really felt that i'v grown up, more matured in terms of musical sense. i've opened up myself to more things outside the box. not just fantasy variations and armenian dances. those are the hot pieces in secondary schools. in actual fact, there are many many works for wind band that are really great, pieces philwinds performed are seriously great music. like everyone always complain, philwinds repertoire are all those 'weird weird' pieces cuz no one ever heard of them b4. but nonetheless, it really make a mark in the local music scene. at least such works are introduced to the audience.

now i felt so inspired by laoban la... really feel like doing music. especially when im such a fan of youtube, where u can find loads of precious and valuable videos of great conductors and ensembles playing great work haha. really feel like being a conductor. imgaine waving my baton in front of band for concert, like how limyau does, wah.... so cool.

talking abt him, he is really a cool guy, i love his conducting so different yet precise. but 1 complain, his rehearsels are freaky!!!!!!! omg those penetrating stares of his can really kill.. scary... one word to describe it all... but at least i got to play under him, great experience. i've heard many ppl saying him as a very sarcastic and strict person, now i realise, its freaking true. when he first walk in and approach the podium, u can sense the black dark aura floating around him... and the aura just slowly drifts towards u.. argh~~~~~~~~ oh well its over :D haha... and the chorus was ggreat! cool chorus... so nice to have a 250 strong choir singing behind u... big and nice sound...

HAHA yesterday was 13 dec!!!!!!!!! my birthday!!!!!!!!!!!!! happy birthday to me :D:D im like finally 18? finally can watch m18 movies..wohohoho but damn sad la... no one to celebrate with... haiz... tiffany even said i have no life.. argh~~~ not like i wan one leh. bday still must go for lesson. haiz... have lesson still nvm u know, wats more interesting is! my lesson suppose to be at 6, i reached at 6 and i saw chua. at that point i knew something wrong liao.. damn wah!!! i can feel the whole world of sianness dropping upon myself... he also having lesson -,- his suppose to be at 5 but push push push until 6. therefore mine at 7. but then ar... in the end become mine at 7 50! nnp -.- so i told laoshi just play 1 studies and go home liao HAHA... 1 hr become half hour lesson..twice le u know! so irritating. reach home at 9 30 to have my dinner... haiz wat a nice bday haha...

anyway if anyone knows where to get the dvd for this PLSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS TELL ME!!!!

Ya, super duper happy. after 1 month plus of hardwork it really paid off. so sorry that vincent has to stuck with all my shit and nonsense while practicing that piece. haha~ anyway solo com's over, and the felix mendelssohn duet took first place, YAY!!! happy happy. Song ern took 2nd place but he is still god~~ Jin ta's student is really Jin ta's student. PRO! SALUTE! and congrats to Fangyu too! You played brilliantly, especially under the circumstances that you receive no tutoring and its all your SOLO work. Well done! Jinkun too, the Tuba god. wow!

But i have to say that we won is really lucky! because me and vincent thought that we chose the right piece. its captivating and the audience will love it ( according to laoban) haha. BUT! BUT BUT BUT!!!!!!!! BLOODY HELL THAT PIECE NO BAND ACCOMPANIMENT -.- argh!!!!! shit man. haiz... guess we have to forfeit it to Songern le. its ok~ i think we still did clarinet section proud :) HEEZ 3 cheers for clarinets!

school has started for almost one and a half week and i could already feel the stress and boredom of school. so far not so bad, yet! all modules are quite manageable. just a few complains, stupid Aircraft Maintenance Practice practical. first week got cut by a nut and second week got cut by wires! argh~~~~ bad bad~~~ well LAV wasn't so bad, yet! so far quite ok. i guess modules that i need to worry is AEIS. i really dislike electrical stuffs and count myself smart that i didn't choose any electrical course. Mechanics was funny, cuz we got a really weird lecturer who talks in some british accents. haha! all in all, like i said, not so bad.. YET. haha

well i just got to know this piano concerto and it was really nice! such a soothing melody, with addition to Langlang's wonderful playing. Bravo!

hello, haven been posting since my first post, but do expect this in future because i am a very lazy person haha. Philwinds finally resume practice and the attendance was pretty bad, but rehearsel wasn't so bad. Our next concert on 7 december 1930 hours and at Esplanade. Do come and support!

So do come! Classics! and yup its only 4 pieces HAHA. Pretty rare for wind band concert eh? this means that each piece is gonna be pretty long~

Went pass a friend's blog and she talked to me too. And this made me ponder too. After graduation from poly, where am i going? Seriously, Music VS Engineering, i still do not know which to choose. I love Music, i like to play i like to perform. But i do not hate engineering. However, given what i have now, in terms of my clarinet skills, i can't be a music student. I know nuts about music history, competition is fierce among clarinetists i know. Gods like Ivan, Victor, Jeremy Chua and Ralph are really a threat in music, if i'm serious about furthering music.

I asked myself, what can i do if i really graduate from a music conservatory?
1) be a clarinet tutor
2) a performer
But come on man, clarinet tutor, u think u can teach better then ur own teacher from SSO? People like Desmond and Ivan teach so well too, doubt i can compete with them. Then now left with performing. Perform? Where? Orchestra? Soloist? haha thats impossible. Music really left me with very little opportunities but i really love playing. So i guess i'll just be loyal to my own feelings and be a full time music lover. Play in ensembles to continue clarinet playing. Hopefully after graduation i can go overseas to continue Aero. Also, i thought, if i really hack care aero, then why do i chiong so hard for GPA 3.9 and Dip plus? hm... if i don continue aero, wouldn't it be wasteful? aiyo so mah fan...tsk haha.

F1 just ended and it was WOW! COOL! Pretty dramatic, Ferrari was really lack of luck, Massa too, what a pity. I think Hamilton was the only one more consistent and Alonso was really good and lucky! Congrats.

OMG! and i think i'm going crazy le! argh!! Friday was really a happy happy day for me:D haha can't stop smiling after going home, i even dreamt about her omg! Ridiculous! haha went for a movie, Painted Skin. Well the movie was so so only, i'll rate it 6/10. Not fantastic, plot abit weird, and kinda like the typical romance movie, predictable ending. ya a little disappointment i will say. But get to watch with her wasn't :D:D HAHA HAPPY!!!!

KONNICHIWA!

First time on blogging, surprised aren't you? I know, because I'm surprised too. Well, I always see my friends having blogs, so I was just wondering, what's so nice about blogging??? So, I decided to try it out. HAHA. Must thank fidah for giving me all the help to blogger, all the Html codings are driving me nuts. thanks fidah~ HAHA

Actually no, just wanna have some place for me to speak myself out. Life to me recently was a bore~ holidays are wonderful, in a way that there is no school. BUT!! there's nothing to do. I thought I could catch up on my clarinet but, Laoshi is away! for 4 bloody weeks, FREAK! haiz...oh well, 4 weeks without lesson equals to DEPROVEMENT. Never mind, I'll just try my best to push and improve!

Laoshi just gave me a new study and wth? I can't play it! stupid semiquavers at a tempo of 120 and TONGUED! aiyo... since when can I even get pass 110 eh? Nvm~ Practice! At least I have Weber first concerto to work on. Its very nice~ but difficult too, seems like I seriously need to work on my technique le. How I wish i have half of ivan or half of chien teng's playing, that would be awesome! WOOTS!

Oh my, SP just mailed us our result slips and it just reminded me about my results. Satisfactory yet disappointed. Stupid GEMS and CAMM! argh!!! QI SI WO LE! but it's kind of expected. So nothing to complain of, just hopefully I can maintain my GPA above 3.9? tough man~~ Dip plus wasn't so bad, always thought i will do badly but it turned out to be DISTINCTION! WOOTS! HAHAHA. But the paper is seriously crap, its like u've nvr seen such questions before. And one question can make you answer for 2 pages! crazy...oh well its over :D

Holidays are seriously boring, Boring, BORING!!! Especially when SYO is having exam break, freak~~ but im looking forward for PhilWinds to resume pract, cant wait to see what's our next concert repertoire. So peeps, come and support! haha
